Any incidents that requires a timely warning to the university community are sent via email and posted to this site, and on jwuLink.

Safety and crime prevention starts with personal responsibility. Keeping the following tips in mind will ensure that the campus community is a safer place:

  • Set up your emergency contacts.
  • Walk with another person after dark, or call for an escort.
  • Be aware of your surroundings and any signs that something is out of place.
  • Stay in well-lit areas; stay away from alleys, dark corners and bushes whenever possible.
  • Don't carry large sums of money.
  • Lock your valuables securely, even in your room.
  • Mark your property for quick identification.
  • Do not risk injury if someone attempts to forcibly take your wallet, purse, or other personal belongings.
  • Don't attach your ID to your keys or mark your keychain with your name and address.
  • If your keys are lost or stolen, notify Campus Safety and Residential Life immediately.
  • Get to know your neighbors. Share information about suspicious activity with them.
